16MAR10. Kwame after being picked up from the Vet after 2nd Chemo treatment. Quite a warm and muggy day (34C). As you can see, the chemo treatments don’t seem to bother him at all. He protested about having the needle in his back leg again so the vet went in via the front leg; the vein was easy to find this time as compared to his 1st chemo. Any side effects should be within 24-48 hours after treatment, so I’ll update with another video a bit later on. Couldn’t really tell after the 1st chemo as he had more surgery the day after. He was sick a few days later on that occasion, vomited twice, was it the chemo or the gas from the following surgery? This time should give me an better indication. Blood results were: Liver and Kidneys=fine. Bone Marrow=fine. Red and White blood cell count=slightly below average, although we suspect that Kwame may have always been slightly anemic as he’s never been a “high energy dog” when compared to my other Rotties. Because he never had gotten sick before (apart from the eye problem when he was younger) I’d never had his blood tested before. It’s a good idea to do this when they’re young and healthy, as it gives you and the vet a reference point for when they get old or ill. Video posted 12 hours after it was taken, Kwame still looks very happy and comfortable, ate a full meal, drinking good amounts of water and no visible side effects at this stage, although you at least expect them to lose a little bit of fur (not in chunks, just normal

Link: www.buy.com This is the true story of an abandoned puppy that was rescued by NBC’s “Today” show correspondent Jill Rappaport. Jill named him Jack, and together they lived on a farm. Life with Jill was grand, all right! Jack spent his days running through fields, digging holes, playing with the horses, and chasing deer. But one day Jack’s leg started to hurt. When Jill took him to the vet, she received bad news. Jack had bone cancer. In order to beat the disease, Jack’s hurt leg had to be removed. Would life with only three legs be as grand as it was before? “Jack and Jill” is the story of a brave dog and his loving owner making it up the hill together. Told from Jack’s point of view and with beautiful photographs by Linda Solomon, the message of hope in this book will inspire children and adults alike.

With his family by his side Pete was laid to rest on March 20 just 28 days short of his ninth birthday. The cause of his rapid decline in health will never be truly known as he had very few definitive symptoms. Pete suffered from Cushing’s Disease and was diagnosed with pancreatitis, through a pancreas biopsy, three days before his life was humanely ended. Following his surgery he never resumed eating and grew weaker by the day. Blood work results gave reason to believe that he also had bone marrow cancer but by that time he was to weak to undergo treatment. Goodbye “Piggy”. There will never be another one like you.
