Question by : I’m worried about my anger management issues and I don’t know what to do? Please help?
I’m a 15 year old girl, and I think I have anger management issues and I’m worried. I always do stupid stuff like this:
My friend insulted my father once in front of my face, and it upset me so i got a saw and started violently sawing this one tree in the park down and ripping up the leaves off and stuff. my friend saw me and told me I have anger problems. Also, when my uncle passed away I punched a wall really hard and I had to go to hospital because I had fractured my knuckle bone or something. And when my sports instructor found out he had cancer I punched a hole through a door. Another time, I smashed a glass window because my sister was hurting my dog (she’s 8 and she didn’t realize what she was doing) and she was laughing and wouldn’t stop when I told her to.
Its weird because I’m rarely affected by what people think of ME. If they insult ME, I don’t care. I usually get this build-up of anger when I feel like my friends/family are at risk.
Well, I live next to the river, so I used to use rowing as a sport in which I could unleash all my emotions. Like, every time I felt the need to punch something, I would go out on the water and row until I wanted to die. Literally. Once my dad had to call the ambulance because I collapsed due to over working myself when I went rowing. Ever since I collapsed my father banned me from rowing, but I still do it occasionally when times are really bad, but he thinks I quit ages ago. And since I’ve stopped rowing as much as I did before, I’ve started smashing up things, its really bad… and I honestly try so hard to stop myself but I just can’t.
I never inflict pain on anybody. I don’t even shout at anyone, its just that all this anger builds up inside me all at once and I have to let it out on something, even if it means destroying things. I don’t just smash up any old object, I usually run as far as I can until I run out of breath and then I unleash all this anger. I don’t know what to do.. I’ve been told that I need to sort myself out.
Best answer:
Answer by JerryJ Talk to your parents about getting counseling from a psychiatrist. It’s unlikely that you will be able to “sort yourself out” because it usually takes someone who is not emotionally involved to find the root cause.
That said, techniques such as meditation, misogi, and chinkon can sometimes help.

Best answer:
Answer by Me Tell someone you trust about the problems you are having! No one should feel this way, and no matter what it seems like, you’re not alone. If you are really feeling suicidal, call a hotline, they don’t preach to you but really help.

Question by LiveLaughLove: Can my dog get cancer if I don’t breed her before she’s spayed?
I have a 12 week old German Shepherd puppy. I’m not looking to breed her now, she’s too young. I actually don’t want to breed her at all, but I was told that if I don’t breed her before I get her spayed that she could get breast cancer. I just wanted to know if this is true?
Also, I was wondering when would be a good time to get her spayed? I’m kinda not looking forward to her period..
Please and thank you!
Best answer:
Answer by Merkon No. Spay her. Ask your veterinarian about how old she should be — I’m thinking like 4-6 months, but you should ask a vet.

Question by IDGAF: Why do people act like if you don’t get your dog neutered he will drop dead of prostate cancer?
Everyone always says if your dog isn’t neutered it will get prostate cancer and die. I see all these show dogs who aren’t fixed and they look pretty alive to me? And my vet says that neutering dogs does prevent some prostate issues BUT it increases there risk for prostate cancer.
Best answer:
Answer by The Buzz spaying and neutering are personal choices and done for population control. There are cancers that a dog can get if not neutered, and there are cancers he can get if he is..do the research and decide for yourself.
Myself..I’m responsible enough to own an intact dog, and won’t cave into the brow beating of the spay/neuter nazis

Question by You asked for it: I don’t know what to do?
My 4 year old dog Precious was diagnosed with Stage V Lymphoma on Nov. 18, 2008. On December 22, my vet told me that she was in remission.
I just noticed that her lymph nodes are swelling back up again.
They only start swelling back up when we try to gradually take her off the Prednisone. When she’s on 1 tablet a day, the lymph nodes are normal.
What do I do?
Best answer:
Answer by pantherintheforest Keep her comfortable, and prepare yourself emotionally to put her to sleep. I had a dog with cancer, and the prednisone only worked for a couple of weeks. Just make sure her quality of life is good. You will feel pain having to put her to sleep, but remember that she gave you love, as you did to her, and you gave her a good life. We are responsible for our pets’ lives and their deaths too. Her spirit will be with you forever.
What do you think? Answer below!

Question by any_minute_man: Why don’t members of PETA take up a cause that actually means something?
For all of you members and potential members of PETA: How about taking up a more worthy cause? Let me let you in a a little secret…YOU ARE A HUMAN BEING! Animals cannot reason, are not capable of abstract thought and are meant for our consumption. If you want something to feel sorry about and protest over, what about abortion. I feel just a teensy bit more empathy for an unborn child being murdered than I do for Bessy being turned into a steak. Or how about doing some overseas work in some third-world country. The whole continent of Africa is plagued by people with AIDS and TB, but you’d rather weep for some chicken in the deep fryer. Or better yet, stay in our own country and hand out soup to the homeless…with MEAT in it. You do understand that if we don’t eat animals, that some other animal is just going to. You know those four little sharp pointy things in your mouth? Those are called your Canine teeth. They are proof that we are carnivores. Do me a favor: take a good, long, hard look at your life forty or fifty years down the road and try to imagine if all that protesting to keep meat off of people’s plates will actually make a difference, because seriously, I doubt it. I’m a meateater and so are millions of other people and that is never going to change. Don’t get me wrong, I am totally against animals being tortured or having cosmetic products tested on them, or being hunted for sport. But if giving some rat cancer is going to help a doctor keep my daughter from getting it, then I am all for it. Test away! That’s all I’ve got, so please think about it, and God bless.

Answer by Gordon Shumway I was thinking more along the lines of seeing that that poor rabbit finally gets his Trix, but OK.

Question by Annie: I’m always amazed by people who don’t think breeders know what they’re doing….?
Maybe I had one too many (ok, ONE, margaretia at dinner tonight). But reading over answers to questions I began wondering…why don’t people think experienced, responsible breeders know what they’re doing?
For example, on a dog food question, may long time, experienced breeders (myself included) feed ProPlan. It has some fillers, sure, but it’s overall a pretty good food on a lot of fronts. I get great coats, great energy and I’m not wasting money. The proof is in the pudding — I’ve had multiple champions and performance titliest on proplan for years. And feeding giant breeds high powered kibble leads to rapid growth and orthpedic issues….just don’t do it! And yet, time and again, I see people who have never bred, much less owned a giant breed saying proplan is crap…simplisitic thinking with no research basis.
There was a very contentious question on breeding “back to back”. Now considered the best way to breed if you’re having more than one litter — much healthier to breed 2 litters back to back, wait a season and breed two more back to back and then spay. Significantly more healthy for the mother dogs, as they ovulate less (and even in people, the less ovulation, the less the cancer risk…ask your ob/gyn why you should stay on the pill and they’ll give you essentiallly the same explaination). The supporters of two back to back litters were simply crucified. Disregarding that the world renown canine reproductive specialist “Dr. Hutch” recommends this for healthy breeding females. People just disregard the experts and fact and say this is a terrible practice. WRONG. (hey my own kids were “back to back” by choice!!).
There’s just example after example of people giving fly-by-night answers and disregarding research, vast experience and practical practice — my question is …why do people disregard research, experience, and long time knowledge in favor of those who clip answers from who knows what web site or believe what they see on TV is true?
Edited to add:
Proplan is NOT new…it has been around for years. The new formulation (the shredded chicken, beef, etc. bits) is new, and ProPlan “Selects” are fairly new (within two years) but ProPlan kibble has been around for years.
Edited to add:
Yes, I agree, special needs (allergies) dogs need special diets…no arguement there. I’m talking healthy, allergy free dogs, which luckily I have.
Also — I’m a BIG fan of Dr. Dodds, she helped me (on a Friday night no less!! If you know her you know what this means) with dog thyroid interpretations. i am a big fan.
The point of the question is people with little knowledge putting forth opinions where there is a good research base to the opposite.
And I am a big Dr. Hutch fan…he has done miracles as far as I am concerned. Although when you do as high a volume of difficult cases, you are not going to be successful with each one. That is why so many vets don’t do difficult cases.
Animal artwork — if your dog is eating 8-9 cups of proplan a day and producing huge poops, you have a different problem. I have newfies on two cups twice a day of proplan who maintain good body weight and produce normal poops, no gas. I think you have a food allergy going on, and the dog is not processing the food.
Best answer:
Answer by vixen Pro Plan is a fairly new product of the Purina brand. I don’t know how anyone could have been feeding it for years. Check dogfooganalysis.com. This site compares the different dog food brands and rates them from 1-6 stars. Purina Pro Plan got only one star. It shows the ingredients and tells why they are bad. I used to feed my dogs Purina One and then changed to Pro Plan. They actually prefer the taste of Purina One to Natural Balance, Nutro, Blue Buffalo. I think it is the sugar and sweet corn taste that they like. But by researching on the site I listed I put them on Wellness 5 Mix. They like it pretty much and I am happy knowing I am feeding them a quality food.

Recently my dog was hit by a car..After Pickles was examined at the vets..it was detertermined that he had severe internal and multible broken bones..And the heavy panting, whining and that LOOK in his eyes..We all agreed the humanely putting him to sleepto end his suffering was the best, only right thing to do…We all stood around holding, petting him as he slowly closed his eyes ..peacefully and feeling the love..It was sad..But if death is inevitable to all life why prolong the living if they are in excrutiating pain……
I just remember my grandfather dying of cancer..The pain, the torture of the pain he felt…And allof his family insisting on his pain medication be increased…And how they explained the what the highest dose allowed…The tears my grandfather shed when we told him that was all …He screamed how he just would pass to the beautiful light to the peace that awaits him….
Instead he died alone, in pain..after 1 year of pain .HUMANE?????

Even if that dog is kept inside, and the owner knows the signs of the dog being in heat, and knows how to be extra careful at those times?
I always hear of the health benefits (which seem to be few… a reduced chance of mammary cancer and no chance of the dog getting pregnant, oh, and no pyometra… which is actually false as well)…
They’ve linked early spaying to an increased chance in bone cancer… and spaying only reduces the chance of mammary cancer if done before the first heat, but if you spay before the first heat, the dog grows funny, and looks puppy-ish, and lanky for the rest of it’s life… there’s also a higher chance of incontinance as the bitch ages, and she can still get pyometra (stump pyometra)…
If the owner has the full ability and knowledge to keep an intact bitch that is not meant for breeding purposes, doesn’t it really make more sense to leave them as nature intended, instead of screwing with their insides?
I’m sorry, I’m just curious… it’s bizarre to me… I mean, spaying makes sense if you aren’t able to keep males away, and you don’t know when the dog is in heat, and all that… but if you know how to keep her “locked down” durning the few weeks out of the year she can get pregnant, isn’t it better for her health in the long run?
