My dog RAUL gets his day in the dirt. Me and my brother Jim put him in the ground next to Jims old dog BO. They are buried in the old pecan orchard. Best buds. A few seconds before RAUL left his body I reached down and whispered in his ear, “you go get them fuckin’ sheep Raul” and he looked me in the eyes, licked me across my mouth then wagged his tail twice. I can’t wait to see him in my next life.

Question by : How do I tell my fiance that it’s time to put his dog down?
So, my fiance has a huge husky mix that isn’t doing so well. she is 12 years old and she can not walk. We have taken her to the vet and $ 708 later we found out she has some sort of cancer SOMEWHERE, arthritis, and her cartilage between her vertibrae above her legs is practically gone, so the bone is poking her spinal cord. To go forward with surgery would be between 5 and 8 THOUSAND dollars. Or we could put her on medication and get her a cart. OR we could put her down. So we tried the medication. Now, she pees all over herself a few times a day and just puked up blood. (My fiance said “She must have gotten in the garbage… Thats not blood.” But the dog can only pull herself along on carpet and can not move at all on tile and the garbage was on the far side of the kitchen. So, I know he is in some major denial having had this dog since she was eight weeks old.) He wants to build her a cart because we cant afford a real cart. Honestly, I am getting very resentful at him and the dog. I would NEVER let my dog live like this and he thinks its okay. She has no quality of life anymore. He justifies her happiness as “She still wags her tail when I come in the door.” I dont know what else to say to him. What can I say that he will understand; “Holy Crap! Its time for my dog to go to heaven!” I need something to make a lightbulb turn on in his head. Like, I am pretty sure if the human society knew they would throw a fit. Should I call them? I am just at my wits end! Every body knows its time. They tell him. He says no. WTF??!?!?

It’s reasonable to put the dog down but you must take into consideration your fiancé’s feelings. He loves that dog and cares about her a lot. So if he puts her down, he’ll be damaged emotionally for a while. But if it’s absolutely necessary to put her down, talk to him. Since you aren’t in a financial state to care for a crippled dog, it probably is the best thing to do. Tell him this. Tell him to put the dog out of misery

Question by EmilyMichelle95: My dog has trouble standing up when she was laying down.?
Shes a 10 year old golden retriever. The vet told us that she has fluids in her stomach. And has a form of cancer. And she doesn’t eat very much at all. You can feel her bones when you pet her. Lately she has been laying down and when she gets up she like rolls since it hurts. I don’t want to put her through chemo. I want to know how or maybe I can help her

I’m very sorry to hear this. It is tough when pets start to get old and you see them in pain. I say just make her as comfortable as you can, give her lots of love and attention. I hope you the best.

Question by : Will I have to put my dog down :( ?
Well my 8 year old English Mastive named Zues was diagnosed with Oral Melanoma. We noticed it at a party, one of my friends was petting Zues and he rested his mouth on her leg and when he moved his mouth, blood was all over her leg.We looked at his mouth, and on his upper gum to the left we seen something there,we assumed it was an abcess. We called the vet and they rushed him in immediately. They said that it was a tumor, and it was infected with Melanoma. The only option that we were given is the tumor being removed from his gum. The cancer is spreading rapidly, already to the bone, but it has not spread to the lymph nodes yet. After the tumor is removed, the cancer is guaranteed to come back again, anywhere from six months to a year.My family and I are devastated.
Zues is a BIG boy! Weighing about 170 lbs.But he is probably one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet. All he does is lick you to death, and rest on your lap.I do not want him to leave so soon.

Is they’re any other options to get rid of the oral melanoma that any of you know of? It would help me alot! Please pray for a miracle for my baby Zues.
I asked the vet if he is in any pain, and she said that she doesn’t think so. I was not ready to go there and put him to sleep yet…

Question by Mary E: Do I put my dog down at an emergency vet or his regular vet?
I am having a hard time with the phrase “you’ll know when it is time to put your dog down” I am very confused. Zeke was diagnosed with osteosarcoma about two weeks. He is on Rimadyl and Tramadol(50mg 2x day). He is limping considerably more tonight. He is still eating and alert but he sure doesn’t get to do all the things he loves. I know I have to make the decision soon, and have had awesome help from all you Yahoo! answerers in the past. But I now have a few more questions. Do I take him in to the emergency vet? Or do I wait until Monday to take him to his regular vet? He has an awesome vet, he never assumed Zeke was dangerous (rottweiler). The vet treated him like a dog and is very kind and relaxed around him. He always complimented Zeke on being such a good dog. But am I just prolonging it for my sake? Does it matter where he is put down? Should I up the dosage (3x day) so he can be a little more comfortable for two more days? Thanks for reading this long question!
It is Saturday morning and his regular vet was in. I took him in and he is finally at rest. Thanks everyone!

This movie is based on a book written by my cousin Sandra Blumberg while she was undergoing an unsuccessful chemotherapy ordeal. We all miss her, but now she’s free from pain and her struggle is over.

This is a video of my dog Simon being put down. I recorded all of this today, July 30th 2007, and kept it for personal reasons. It was uploaded to youtube so people can witness what putting a dog down is like. My name is Ethan, I’m from Cincinnati and I recorded this with a Motorola KRZR K1 on medium. —————————————- —————————————- —————————————- FAQ: Written May 5th 08 Q: Why was he put down? A: He was put down due to bone cancer, bone inflammation, brittle bone in front right leg (caused by cancer), and heart conditions due to spread of cancer. I didn’t want to put him down if he had a good amount of time left. However, due to very high amounts of pain and yelping and the fact that every vet I inquired said the same thing (that he has less than 2 weeks) I decided to put him down to stop the suffering. Q: How old was he? A: 8, would have turned 9 in less than a month. Q: Where was he put down? A: Somewhere in KY but its been too long so I don’t remember the place. Q: What happened to his body? A: We had him cremated and he is currently in my room inside a nice hand crafted wooden box. I wanted it so I would never forget him. Even after having it this long I still say it was well worth the 0 price tag. Better than burying him in the ground. Q: Why on YouTube?! Its very disturbing! A: Yeah, no shit. But it was put here for a good reason. Many people loved their dog like I did but didn’t get the
