Our Artificial Urinary SphincterZSI 375 treats severe urinary incontinence in men. The artificial urinary sphincter mimics a healthy sphincter in that it keeps the urethra closed until the patient wants to urinate. It does this by automatically moving fluid such as saline (salt and water) through two main components: a cuff and a pump with a pressure-regulating tank. These components are connected by flexible, kink-resistant tubing. The artificial urinary sphincter ZSI 375 is a medical device that can be implanted in men. It is made of a silicone elastomer and is filled with saline solution. It mimics a healthy sphincter in that it keeps the urethra closed until the patient wants to urinate. This artificial urinary sphincter ZSI 375 is composed of two elements connected by kink-resistant tubing: a cuff is placed around the urethra and a control pump is placed in the scrotum. When the patient needs to urinate, he squeezes and releases the pump located in his scrotum. This action empties the cuff and releases the pressure around the urethra. The urine can flow out of the bladder. Few minutes after the bladder is empty, the cuff is automatically refilled, and the urethra is squeezed closed again. The principal design features of the ZSI 375 include the following: – One-piece assembly to facilitate implantation and minimise mechanical failures – Logistic of delivery simplified thanks to an adjustable cuff that suits all sizes of urethra. – A cuff moulded in circular form to …

They may be used depending on a couples specific fertility problems, goals, age, and past success or failure rates. ICSI ICSI, pronounces ick-see, is an acronym for intracytoplasmic sperm injection. In regular IVF treatment, an egg is placed in a petri dish, along with lots of sperm, in hopes that one of the sperm will fertilize the egg on its own. With ICSI, an individual sperm is injected directly into an egg using a specialized needle. ICSI may be used in severe cases of male infertility, like when the sperm shape is impaired (aka abnormal sperm morphology) orn cases of very low sperm count. ICSI must be used if testicular sperm extraction (TESE) is used. PGD PGD stands for pre-implantation genetic diagnosis. During PGD, one or two cells are taken from an embryo, and tested for genetic diseases, before transferring the embryos to the woman’s uterus. PGD may be used in cases of recurrent miscarriage or to avoid passing on a deadly genetic disease, specifically for couples with a high-risk. It’s important to note that PGD doesn’t guarantee the child will not have the inherited disease being tested, but it does significantly lower the risk. A controversial use of PGD is to select embryos with particular traits, like eye color. This isn’t widely used, however, and the ability to accurately select “children-by-order” isn’t proven … Video Rating: 0 / 5

Question by kevus: Can a dog still have lyme disease after the month of treatment?
I took my dog (about 12 years old) in for an ear infection, and since we had recently lost a dog to lymes, I had them do the 3D test for safety sake. It came back positive for lymes.
Her lymph nodes were swollen slightly, which they said could be an early sign of lymphoma, but more likely was a result of the dual infections of lymes and yeast infection of ears.
We are now at the end of 1 month of antibiotics for the lymes (doxycycline hyclate 150mg twice daily) and a month of antibiotic medicine for the ears (not sure exactly what).
Today when she got up she was super stiff and could barely move. Her lymph nodes are still swollen. After she walked around for a while she seemed to get less stiff and was running normally, but was still limping on her back left leg. Her breathing seems a little heavy, although not labored, and I’m sure its because of the swollen lymph nodes in her neck.
You can feel the lymph nodes in her neck, although they are not as large as they were at the beginning of her treatment. The lymph nodes at the back legs are pretty swollen but I’m not sure if they are as big or the same size.
My question is, could the treatment for lymes just not have worked? Do I need to have the vet try a different or stronger antibiotic? Is there something that works better than what I was given?
I really hate that this happened today, a 3 day labor day weekend. If it had happened yesterday I would have rushed her in, now I have to wait til Tuesday. My normal vet does not offer emergency services. If her symptoms get any worse I could take her in for emergency treatment at another vet but I’m waiting to see.
One other item of note, there is no loss of appetite. She is eating and drinking normally.
Thanks for your support and ideas and help!
She is also going to the bathroom normally. No vomiting or diahhrea.
Question by Beckie: Question about cancer and cancer treatment for dogs?
My husband and I think our dog might have cancer. She has had a pea-sized mole on her shoulder since she was 1 or 2. We took her to the vet to make sure it was ok, and he said it was fine as long as it didn’t grow. If it grew, it could mean she has cancer.
She’s 8 now, and I just noticed the other day her mole had nearly doubled in size, and isn’t as symmetrical and round as it was.. its more flat now and looks a lot like a mushroom.
On top of that, her breathing has been getting heavier and more shallow. She’ll let out these violent coughs, than pant/gasp for a while.
We already have a vet appointment scheduled for a whole bunch of tests.. but I wanted to know:
What types of treatments are out there for dogs with cancer? Does she stand a good chance?
Just the facts: Did you really just drop in to insult me? Did I say that I was going to let my dog suffer, or spend “thousands of dollars on painful treatments”? No. But I also don’t KILL my dog without seeing if whatever she has is treatable. Get a life, troll.

Answer by Jhay Chiong If cancer’s detected early and the tumor is still small, odds are your vet will recommend that it be removed surgically. This involves removing not only the tumor but also a margin of surrounding skin, to make a recurrence less likely.
If the cancer has spread to surrounding lymph nodes, successful removal of all of the affected nodes and the tumor can result in a cure. If it has spread further, surgery is unlikely to remove all of the cancer. But removing the primary site may still provide relief and improve the dog’s quality of life.
Often, treatment can put a cancer into a partial or total remission–meaning a decrease in the size of a tumor, or that there is no cancer still detectable in the body. Remission does not necessarily mean cured. Often, remission is a state, and there is a likelihood of eventual return. While remission times have increased with better treatment, for many types of cancer the eventual return is inevitable.
Question by hex_alot: Is it the vets fault for not testing my dog’s blood before her cancer treatment which turned out to be toxic?
I later found out that the dog food I was feeding her was part of the recall. I had to put my dog of 16 years to sleep because she never quite recovered from the last cancer treatment which turned out to be a toxic punch from combination of the tainted pet food and the cancer treatment.

Answer by Ed in WV Cancer treatments — generally chemotherapy — are toxic by nature. I am deeply sorry for the loss of your dog, but 16 is very near the natural end of any dog’s life. It is very possible even a blood test would not have detected the foreign material in the pet food that made her sick.

Question by spider5: Is there herbal treatment for mammery cancer in dogs ? ( I’m in the UK )?
Hi, My Dad’s dog has mammery cancer and has always been a healthy weight. I was shocked to see her today very thin. She has been bringing some of her food back up you see. She still has her energy at the mo and seems fine in herself. I was hoping for any treatment like alternative stuff like herbal treatment. Is there any good websites I could buy some things from, does anyone know of any specific herbal remedies/treatments I could just go and buy, or know of any places we could go to ? Is there anyone who has a good reputation in this area of treatment? Absolutely any ideas would be greatly received. Many thanks x

Answer by Lorraine I have tried two alternative therapies – neither of which worked for my boy, but — who knows.
I didn’t leave him lingering and suffering either.
Try Animal Angels who have a paw paw treatment.
And try zipvit who have a shark cartiledge treatment. (About 18 capsules per day).
Neither are cheap. I think both work by cutting off the oxygen to the tumours.
Email me if you need more details.
