Question by Fallon H: >>>HELP<<< i think my NINE year old DACHSHUND is PREGNANT?
my nine year old had a litter of puppies a couple of years ago and one of the puppies was BIG, so big that it broke its mothers pelvic bone!
my dachshund also has BREAST CANCER! and i think that, that may be bad if she has puppies.

>>>IMPORTANT INFORMATION<<<

* my dog has a TUMOR on her back right nipple it is very big (sorry i can't tell you how big it is)

* i felt a bump the nipple closest to the tumor. and thought it was another tumor.

* two days ago i checked to see if the "tumor" got bigger until i realized that it MOVED!

* today it MOVED AGAIN and i could feel a HEART BEAT not just one but THREE!!! (two SMALL ones and my dogs)

* i don't remember the last time my dog had her "period"

* she has been "nesting"

* she is fat but not SUPER fat but i can only feel two other heart beats so i am guessing that the litter will be very small

what i need to know is
(1) if you think she is pregnant!
(2) are you a vet or have any experience in this kind of situation

PLEASE HELP ME I DON'T WANT TO LOOSE MY DOG OR HER PUPPIES

If you sincerely think your dog accidentally was bred, take her to a vet.

Question by Gino’s mom: I just found out that my 1 1/2 year old cockier has acute leucemic cancer.?
There is no real ttreat

there is no real treatment available, and can only be kept alive in a reasonable condition for 2 to 3 weeks, under doctors control. She is the best and loveliest creature anyone can imagine. She came to me even less than 1 month old, still mostly blind, i raised her,she slept with me cuddled in my arms. I am in a state of despair,i myself have been given the good news that my RA is advancing with giant steps, attacking my heart, kidneys, lungs and all of my bones. For the moment i have unable to walk, since month. The unbearabkle pain not allowing me to do so.My 2 dogs are my best friends and always with me. I have no idea how i am eventually going to overcome the death of my beloved doggie.Anybody who has some idea about overcoming the pain of an enormous loss ,i beg to give me some tips, because i am really running out of strenght to fight it. Thanks !!!!

If you are “running out of strength to fight”, then you need to get in touch with a therapist and join a pet loss group immediately.

As humans, we deal with serious emotional trauma and we cope and move on. You don’t “get over it” – you cope, deal with it, and live with it.

I’m very sorry for the diagnosis and the loss. I urge you to talk with someone so you can work through some of the feeings you are having.

Question by SSTEPHLALA: My cat has bone cancer and the vets told us he had about a year. It’s been a year and i have some questions?
He recently started growing some kind of other tumor right next to his initial one just much smaller, and it also recently started bleeding. Whenever I try to clean it up with a kleenex of put neosporin on it, he doesn’t like it. Anyways it still keeps bleeding and my cat licks it all the time.. I know that osteosarcoma (bone cancer) is very painful for animals. Do you think it’s time to put him alseep? He’s still pretty active, he runs when he gets his food, and he’s always eating.

Answer by derbbear87
A good measure of quality of life is if the animal is still eating and drinking readily. From what you said, this is the case so I think that I would let your cat continue to live his life. If he’s painful and you don’t have him on pain meds, talk to your vet. In many cases where the patient is on hospice care, they will allow you to get pretty much whatever you want to help him. Anyway, bring up your concern with your vet but if he continues to eat, he’s still feeling pretty good.

One year ago today Charley became a tripawd (osteosarcoma)! Charley is doing great and he continues to amaze us everyday! He does everything that he did on 4 legs with 3! Since his amp, he has even figured out that he’s a lab and he loves to swim!

Question by Kasums: What is the most common cause of liver cancer in 6-7 year old dogs?

Best answer:

Answer by Aduial
Most commonly it’s environmental.

Exposure to carcinogens, or cancer-causing chemicals, may increase the risk of cancer development. Many chemicals are not toxic until they are metabolized by the liver. The liver serves an important role in detoxifying many substances circulating in the body. However, some chemicals are made more toxic after they have been broken down by the liver. Examples of possible carcinogens include toxins produced by fungi that are sometimes associated with spoiled pet food, food additives, certain pesticides, dyes, plants and animal tissue. Viral infections have been associated with hepatic cancer in humans. This has not been shown in dogs.

Yes, Bo is old, but he has never really acted OLD. He is always been a tad crazy, VERY HYPER, and now, add in some old age dementia and what do you get? An active senile dog LOL He will still play ball, but most of the time he just runs around. I think because he can’t remember if he is getting or retrieving the ball anymore. The game of “ball” has become just too much for his old brain to process. At the age of 12 he started to have some health issues. Early spring 2007 he was diagnosed with malignant melanoma in his mouth. There is to date, no successful treatments available for that type of cancer, it is a death sentence once diagnosed. There is a new trial treatment with a type of vaccine, but it doesn’t offer a cure, only a POSSIBLE extension of life. With the vaccine life may be extended to ONE YEAR, as the usual estimate for living after diagnosis with this cancer is 6-8 months. We opted to treat his cancer with benign neglect, (In other words, we chose to DO NOTHING)Because we didn’t want subject him to trials that would cause him pain and probably wouldn’t work anyway. The nearest cancer treatment center place is almost an hour away, and BO HATES riding in the car. Just getting to the cancer center would cause him undo stress (and diarrhea in the car) I’m happy to report, it has been over a year and a half since his diagnosis. I switched him to Canidae dog food, and he gets Welactin supplement, Previcox, and osteo biflex OR Dasuquin (whatever of those two is on

Question by Georgio87ss: My dog had cancer about a year and half ago and he passed away and we did kimo therapy for about 10 months.?
I want to know since the injections shrank his tumors dramatically and he would play and eat twice a day and have a good time, did he still suffer and how bad.Near the end the vet sayed put him down because the tumors weren;t shrinking and he was suffering so we put him to sleep. He had the tumors in the neck I limfoma cancer or something like that.

Answer by Jen
I think you made the right decisions for him. You helped to have good quality of life for a while and when the quality went bad, you let him go. That’s how it should be.

Sorry for your loss.
